Wireless Woes‘, that I had no problems getting a Linksys WPC11-Version4 PCMCIA wireless card working on Linux, I’ve received the occasional email asking how I did it.Instead of continuing to answer emails with what amounts to snippets of crib notes on the procedure I followed, I’ll put this information here and tell you folks to read it for yourselves.

When last I graced this page with the “written” word, we still had our broadband pipe to the international playground and information sharing venue called the Internet. We lost that on the 23rd of November, at the very end of a couple prior weeks of frenzied packing and “pre-moving” activities. Things really got going (downhill) on Thanksgiving Day; which was our official day to take possession of the premisis. My back is still protesting the indignity of it all, and I’m currently sporting a shoulder which will, thanks to a sofa-related incident, never be what it once was. :::SIGH::: My Dad warned me about things like this. Even though being in a new house is a good thing, moving is a drag.
For us, as a family with five children still at home, space has been a major issue ever since we were given custody of the eldest three of the five. It has–literally–been years of sacrifice and compromise. (more…)
We, the family, have been holding our collective breath over the possibility that we might be relocating. Not far. Just around the corner, as a matter of fact. The problem, in today’s market, is obviously one of pricing. Real estate (to buy or let) is ridiculously priced in California–moreso in Long Beach–and one finds oneself emotionally contending with others for a particular property when one crops-up that is about as close as perfect for one’s family as reality will permit.
