Uniformity

Only today did it occur to me that, at our last parent-teacher, face-to-face meeting, Lisa Watson–our assigned teacher for the girls–asked what size CAliVA polo shirts to order for the girls. She presented lucid safety reasons for the school-affiliated shirts to be worn at school outings and functions, but never asked us to pay for the shirts.
Funny. New books and curriculum materials–including manipulatives, teacher guides, and online instruction components–new uniform shirts, a computer system and printer. We haven’t had to pay for any of it with CAliVA@Kern. Why do I have my son in Millikan when CAliVA’s curriculum is about a year-and-a-half ahead of what he’s getting, and they have rabid low-brows fretting about black-vs-navy blue pants?
I see that KOCE has a segment on CAMS, where Janette and Katie attend. I wonder if LBUSD will try to grab credit for a hugely-successful school that they had no part in creating, and have only harmed over the past few years?
I’m off to see what more they have to say about education today, since they’ve already trumped-up NCLB as something other than a resounding failure.
